Takeoff Program

The Purpose

The purpose of our Plane Faith Takeoff Program is to offer training/education scholarships and repayment grants to prospective missionary pilots and aircraft maintenance personnel. Aviation training is expensive and the debt that is incurred during the years of training and preparation often becomes a barrier that delays, and in some cases prevents, many prospective missionaries from reaching the mission field.

Our desire at Plane Faith is to remove this barrier by awarding scholarships and grants that alleviate this debt, allowing aviation missionaries to arrive on the mission field soon after completing their training, and then to serve without the stress of debt hanging over their head.

Takeoff Grants

Our Plane Faith Takeoff Grants are designed to cover the monthly aviation training loan payments for missionary pilots and mechanics for as long as they serve on the mission field. Applicants should be individuals who have completed their training and have been accepted for service (or conditionally accepted based on debt reduction) by an approved mission aviation organization. Takeoff Scholarships

Although our Takeoff Grants will continue to be our primary approach to alleviating debt for missionary pilots, we have decided to begin awarding scholarships each year as well. We believe this will allow us to help more prospective missionary pilots while also creating an applicant pipeline for our Takeoff Grant program. The scholarships will be $2,000 a year per recipient and will be awarded to cover expenses for a typical two-term school year (ie. Fall 2023 – Spring 2024). Applications for the Fall 2023 – Spring 2024 school year are now closed. Please check back in Spring 2024 to apply for the Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 school year.
